Ambositra

Ambositra is particularly known for being one of the emblematic cities of Malagasy crafts, renowned for marquetry and wood carvings. Woodworking has its origins in Zafimaniry art, named after a tribe from the surrounding forests who used rare species such as rosewood and palisander.

25 Sep: Ranomafana – Ambalavao (118 km, approx. 2h 54min)

After breakfast, you will leave for the visit of the national park of Ranomafana with the local guide, immersed in the tropical forest. Ranomafana

Ranomafana is undoubtedly one of Madagascar’s most spectacular national parks and, along with Isalo and Andasibe NP, one of the most visited national parks on the island. 12 species of lemurs are native to the region and are easy to observe for the pleasure of tourists. A particular attraction are the golden bamboo lemurs, some of which are not far from the entrance. There are also other mammals such as 7 species of tenrecs, carnivorous bats, the Malagasy striped civet and a few mongooses. There are at least 115 species of birds cataloged, 30 of which are endemic to this region and live in Ranomafana.

Ambalavao

Ambalavao is a town in Madagascar located in the southeast of the Haute Matsiatra region, 56 km south of Fianarantsoa. It is known for its beautiful veranda houses with wooden balustrades formed by geometric patterns. Famous for the artisanal production of Antemoro paper, made from natural fibers using an ancient process (visit), for the large weekly zebu market which is held every Wednesday and for the artisanal production of silk shawls.

Isalo

The Isalo National Park is a natural rocky massif, resembling a field of ruins with very atypical relief, reminiscent of the great American West – it is not for nothing that Isalo is nicknamed “The Malagasy Colorado”. Composed of rocks formed more than 150 million years ago, the park alternates between desert landscapes and green canyons within which flow many rivers taking their source in magnificent natural pools, which gives an absolutely magnificent visual result. In the Isalo National Park, there are also natural pools and perfect waterfalls.

27 Sep: Isalo – Toliara – Ifaty (265 km, approx. 5h 23min)

After breakfast and departure for a transfer to Tulear (about 250 km) through the villages of the sapphire researchers of Ilakaka, the tropical forest of Zombitse, the semi-arid savannah dotted with baobabs, the shrubby bush where the funerary buildings of the Mahafaly tribe stand, decorated with colorful patterns, as far as Tulear, on the banks of the Mozambique Channel. Overnight in Ifaty.

Toliara

Tulear, also called Toliara, is the capital of the southern region of Madagascar. This city, bathed by the sun all year round, offers a rich cultural life. It is located at the end of the RN7 and borders the Mozambique Channel. By its position on the Tropic of Capricorn, Tuléar benefits from a very pleasant climate and continuous sunshine almost all year long which justifies its nickname “the city of the sun”.

28 Sep: Relaxation on Ifaty Beach

This day is for relaxing on the beautiful Ifaty beach. Overnight in a 4-star hotel.

Ifaty

This beach is located in the Ifaty department, just a few kilometers north of Mangily. Like all the beaches in this region, it has a fairly flat bottom, making it swimmable at high tide. The sand is fine and white, and it’s lined with coconut palms, giving it a certain charm. Many people come here instead of going to Mangily beach, 5km away, which is deteriorating. Vézo fishermen will offer you a ride in their traditional “waka” boat, hollowed out of a trunk and equipped with an outrigger to ensure stability. It’s great fun and well worth a visit among the different beaches in the southern part of Madagascar.

29 Sep: Excursion in Reniala Private Reserve

After breakfast, you will be taken on an exciting excursion to the Reniala Private Reserve, where you can explore its stunning natural beauty and diverse wildlife. Night in a 4-star hotel.

Baobab Ifaty

The excursion starts far away from the thorn forest on the coastal road, the bizarre thorn forest of large baobab trees and aloe vera plants. The excursion is done on a small safari with a traditional means of transportation Sarety. There are also tropical medicinal plants that are commonly used.

30 Sep: Ifaty – Toliara – Antananarivo (flight approx. 1h 45min)

After breakfast, the driver-guide will accompany you to Toliara airport for your flight to Antananarivo. On arrival in Antananarivo at 3pm, another guide will meet you at the airport. Night in a 4-star hotel.
