ECUADOR ITINERARY 5 DAYS

DAY 1,

ARRIVE TO QUITO

Arrive in Quito where you will be met by your guide after passing the customs area and then transfer to your boutique hotel PLAZA GRANDE in Quito. Two nights, one plaza view suite (double accommodation) breakfast and local taxes included.

DAY 2,

FULL DAY QUITO TOUR

Your Guide will see you at the lobby of your hotel then you will visit the old colonial Quito starting in Santo Domingo Plaza walking through one of the oldest streets in the town “La Ronda Street” where you will see how the colonial houses were built and how the Quiteños lived in the sixteen hundreds. Your walk takes you through the city museum to San Francisco Plaza, making a quick stop to try the typical sweets of Quito. San Francisco is the oldest church in Quito and it is full of history and legends. Next, a visit to La Merced church is organized to see the arabesque and baroque style that was used to decorate this church. Finally, you will the main square where the Presidential Palace, the main cathedral and some other important buildings can be appreciated. The last stop before your guide takes you to the Equator is the La Compañía de Jesus church, which is one of the most beautiful churches in South America or perhaps the world. (B, L)

DAY 3,

OTAVALO FULL DAY TOUR

This land is rich in friendly and colorfully attired indigenous people, historic working haciendas, and towering volcanoes with verdant slopes. Our destination is the Otavalo Indian craft market. As we pass into the highlands, we’re treated to a sweeping view of Imbabura and Cotacachi Volcanoes rising above San Pablo Lake. Otavalo market, which dates back thousands of years and is famous throughout the Andes for its handicrafts, textiles and tapestries and overall the warmth of its people. When you visit the market you learn a lot of the Ecuadorian culture and its traditions. Lunch will be served at one of the local haciendas built between the 17th and 18th centuries with a typical Andean ambience. After lunch we’ll visit the village of Peguche where native weavers demonstrate their craft, as they have for centuries. Hacienda Pinsaqui is the hotel where you will be staying for one night in one colonial suite.

DAY 4,

OTAVALO – PAPALLACTA

Today your Guide will take you for a visit of to Cuicocha Lagoon, located in the Cotacachi-Cayapas Ecological Reserve, it offers a breathtaking glimpse into Ecuador’s stunning volcanic landscapes. This breathtaking crater lake sits at the base of the dormant Cotacachi Volcano, around two hours from Quito, and is one of the highlights of the Imbabura Province. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the striking blue-green waters of Cuicocha, which fills the ancient caldera formed by a volcanic eruption over 3,000 years ago. The lagoon, whose name means “Lagoon of Guinea Pigs” in Kichwa, features two central islets covered in lush vegetation, your Guide will take you for a walk of this amazing ecological paradise of Ecuador and will explain more about flora and fauna of the Andes. Beyond the natural beauty, the area is rich in indigenous culture. A visit to the nearby town of Cotacachi, famous for its leather goods, complements the trip with opportunities to explore artisan markets and learn more about the local traditions. After lunch you will be taken for a two hour drive to one of the most charming and beautiful places of Ecuador, Papallacta. Your stay is at Thermas Papallacta in one double room for one night. (hotel taxes and breakfast included)

DAY 5,

PAPALLACTA – QUITO AIRPORT

Your guide will take you from Papallacta to the airport in time for your international flight to Lima, (available flight with LATAM departing at 01:25 pm and arriving to Lima at 03:40 pm)

The schedule and all touring arrangements herein are subject to change without notice and can be altered by weather conditions, if so your tour will be operated in a different sequence, depending on operational considerations. All hotels are subject to availability and can be substituted for similar hotels. All payments for custom-designed itineraries are non-refundable in the event of cancelation by passengers. Travel insurance is highly recommended.
