OTAVALO – PAPALLACTA
Today your Guide will take you for a visit of to Cuicocha Lagoon, located in the Cotacachi-Cayapas Ecological Reserve, it offers a breathtaking glimpse into Ecuador’s stunning volcanic landscapes. This breathtaking crater lake sits at the base of the dormant Cotacachi Volcano, around two hours from Quito, and is one of the highlights of the Imbabura Province. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the striking blue-green waters of Cuicocha, which fills the ancient caldera formed by a volcanic eruption over 3,000 years ago. The lagoon, whose name means “Lagoon of Guinea Pigs” in Kichwa, features two central islets covered in lush vegetation, your Guide will take you for a walk of this amazing ecological paradise of Ecuador and will explain more about flora and fauna of the Andes. Beyond the natural beauty, the area is rich in indigenous culture. A visit to the nearby town of Cotacachi, famous for its leather goods, complements the trip with opportunities to explore artisan markets and learn more about the local traditions. After lunch you will be taken for a two hour drive to one of the most charming and beautiful places of Ecuador, Papallacta. Your stay is at Thermas Papallacta in one double room for one night.
