DAY 1,

Fly from Addis Ababa to Jinka – Turmi

Upon arrival, your driver will meet you at Jinka Airport and take you for lunch in Jinka. After lunch, continue driving toward Turmi. On the way, stop at Dimeka Market (if it is a market day) and visit a Hamar village.

The Hamar people are one of the most striking tribes of the Omo Valley. They are primarily pastoralists, raising cattle, goats, and sheep, and are known for their symbolic hairstyles made from clay. During your stay in Turmi, you may have the opportunity to witness the Hamar bull-jumping ceremony, a rite of passage every young man must complete to marry and be recognized as an adult.

DAY 2,

Turmi – Dassanech – Turmi

After breakfast, drive to Omorate to visit the Dassanech tribe. Crossing the Omo River by local boat, you will reach a remote Dassanech village. This tribe lives in one of the hottest areas of the Omo Valley and has adapted remarkably to the harsh climate. During the right season, the Dassanech hunt crocodiles along the riverbanks.

After spending time with the tribe, return to Turmi.

DAY 3,

Turmi – Karo Tribe – Jinka

After breakfast, drive to visit the Karo people, who live along the Omo River. Although culturally related to the Hamar, the Karo have their own unique identity and language. They are especially famous for their elaborate body painting traditions.

After visiting the Karo, return to Turmi for lunch.
Continue driving to Jinka, with stops to visit Benna villages and the vibrant Key Afer Market (one of the most colorful markets in the Omo Valley) if it is a market day.

Overnight: Jinka – Nasa Hotel

DAY 4,

Jinka – Mursi Tribe (Mago National Park) – Addis Ababa

After breakfast, drive through Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe. Mursi women are known for wearing clay lip plates and ear plates, while the men are known for their traditional stick-fighting ceremonies.

After the visit, return to Jinka and fly back to Addis Ababa.
